1: Despite it being a major tourist attraction and worldwide symbol of New York City, there are no subway stops in Central Park.

3: In fear of an attack similar to that of the 9/11 attacks, the MTA, three years later, tried to ban photographs and videos from being taken in the subway.

5: The term “subway series”, a term attributed to any series of baseball games between New York City teams, derives from the fact that the opposing teams can travel entirely by subway.
6: As of April 11, 2008, the MTA owns a Ferrara Fire Apparatus Hazardous Materials Response Truck. It will be used in the case of a chemical or bioterrorist attack.
7: All subways currently in use have a ‘ dead-man feature’. This feature automatically stops the subway rail if a conductor has passed out or let go of the controls.
