Nike Scrambles to Pull Bloody ‘Boston Massacre’ T-Shirts from Stores

It’s a well-known play on words used to describe two famous late-season sweeps of the Boston Red Sox by despised rivals the NY Yankees in 1978 and 2006. But in the wake of the recent Boston Marathon Bombing tragedy, Nike, Inc. was forced to move faster than Brett Gardner stealing second - removing the offending product from shelves everywhere.

Nike spokeswoman Mary Remuzzi commented in an emailed statement to the Associated Press: “We conducted this process as quickly as possible and are confident the product has been removed from distribution.”

This is the second time this year Nike has been forced to react quickly to surprise circumstances. In February, Nike was forced to pull an ad featuring “Blade Runner” Oscar Pistorius with the phrase “I am the bullet in the gun” after he was accused of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Reportedly people are selling these shirts now on eBay, and since no more are being made and sold they're getting quite a good price for them.
