The #Benghazi Inbox: Yahoo Creates Browsable Tool For Reading Released Administration Emails

Yahoo News has created a handy little tool which allows users to browse the emails concerning the aftermath of the Benghazi attacks. The emails were released by the Obama Administration this week.

The Tool, which Yahoo is calling The Benghazi Inbox, is pretty user-friendly. Users can sort the interface by the “From,” “Subject” or “Date” fields, which makes reading the emails as easy as browsing through one’s own inbox.

Yahoo has only gotten though about half of the emails so far, but it says it is working until all the emails are in searchable text form.

Because the emails were released as printed email messages that are too fuzzy to be cleanly digitized by a computer, Yahoo News is steadily converting them to searchable text. So far, this interactive includes the first 50 percent of the messages. Letters in square brackets indicate that a person’s name was redacted and replaced by a handwritten acronym representing the organization he or she works for.
