Manti Te’o Admits To More Lies In Couric Interview
Manti Te’o, the Notre Dame linebacker, who was allegedly the victim of an elaborate hoax in which he not only thought he had an online girlfriend for three years, but thought she had died of leukemia, admitted to more lies in a taped interview with Katie Couric to air on her show Thursday.
Te’o admitted that after he found out he had been duped he continued to talk in interviews about his non-existent girlfriend because he felt had no other choice.
“Katie, put yourself in my situation. I, my whole world told me that she died on Sept. 12. Everybody knew that. This girl, who I committed myself to, died on Sept. 12. Now I get a phone call on Dec. 6, saying that she’s alive and then I’m going be put on national TV two days later. And to ask me about the same question. You know, what would you do?” Te’o said.
We will watch the interview to see his answers, but it remains pretty clear that Te’o continues to try to control the story to his benefit. And many questions are still unanswered.
