Former Congressman Allen West (R-FL) unveiled his new PAC, the Allen West Guardian Fund, this morning while addressing CPAC in the Potomac ballroom. West is a retired Lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, having served during Operation Desert Storm in Kuwait. He also served as a civilian adviser to the Afghan National Army in Afghanistan. He spoke in true army fashion - a straight forward manner with the passion and grace only West can. As always, Congressman West spoke about constitutional values and more importantly conservative values. West spoke about choice- the choice to do more than just survive. “It is our choice whether or not we thrive as a community,” West said.
This is particularly important for the Republican Party to speak about in today’s world because it has appeals to a broad range of conservatives, particularly young conservatives. West also addressed the new generation of conservatives “built on the pillars of tradition of people like Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan”.
As a Congressman, West served on the Armed Services Committee and the Small Business Committee. He was considered a conservative firebrand, as a member of the Tea Party Caucus. Now, through his PAC, Congressman West will continue to fight for the principles and values he spoke so passionately about in today’s speech.
