North Korea Positions Strategic Missile Assets, Warns Foreign Diplomats to Leave Immediately

Following our latest update of the developments on the Korean Peninsula, North Korea has moved to strategically position mobile missile launchers on its east coast, while warning that foreign diplomats will no longer be guaranteed safety after April 10. Fox News is reporting that the North is taking unusual action, hiding the missiles on the coast after transportation:

North Korea deployed two of its intermediate range missiles on mobile launchers and hid them on the east coast of the country, citing a South Korean news agency.

South Korea said Thursday North Korea moved a missile with “considerable range” to its east coast after an unnamed spokesman for the North Korean army warned the U.S. Wednesday that its military has been cleared to wage an attack using “smaller, lighter and diversified nuclear” weapons.

Meanwhile, in an apparent attempt to comply with the Geneva Conventions, North Korea has also warned that all foreign embassies should immediately evacuate, sparking speculation that we’re about to witness either a dramatic bluff, or the beginning of a war. According to the British Foreign Office, there are no immediate plans to withdrawal personnel. The Daily Mail has more:

Today the British Foreign Office confirmed it had been told its staff were at risk while Russia said it was in ‘close contact with the U.S, China and South Korea’ about airlifting workers out.But it said that it has ‘no immediate plans to withdraw’ Britain’s embassy in Pyongyang and condemned ‘provocations’ by the North Korean government.

It would seem as though the UK is currently banking on the bluff scenario. With tensions continuing to rise, it is likely that they’ll eventually reconsider that position.
