Obama Set to Party, Fundraise with Hollywood One Percent

President Obama is set to attend another another splashy Hollywood fundraiser in Los Angeles, California.   The June 29 event is being put on by “Gen 44,” the president’s re-election youth arm.

Gen44 is the official under-40 fundraising program of Obama for America comprised of the next generation of leaders, young entrepreneurs, social innovators and activists. The program started as the 2008 campaign’s Generation Obama, and has grown and evolved from there. The young adult fundraising organization aims at engaging new supporters and building events for the campaign. Rather than being driven by dollar amounts, Gen44 focuses on involving as many young people as possible.

Obama has been raking in a lot of donations from Hollywood elites. Actor George Clooney raised $15 million dollars in May for the president’s re-election bid, and charged $40, 000 per ticket. After Obama “came out” in support of gay marriage, “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy hosted a dinner event that charged $25,000 per person and $40,000 per couple. And actress Sarah Jessica Parker of “Sex and the City” fame recently raised 2 million dollars for his campaign in her Manhattan home.

The Obama Victory Fund 2012 – Gen 44 reception is charging $500 per attendee and $2,500 per host committee member.

30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto, whose wealth is estimated at $40 million, is the event chair. Notable guests include actors Zach Braff (estimated worth $22 million), Maria Bello (estimated worth $8 million), Olivia Wilde (estimated worth $8 million), Sophia Bush (estimated worth $6 million), musician/record producer Steve Aoki (estimated worth $20 million), Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky (estimated worth $22 million), and The Social Network director David Fincher (estimated worth $65 million).
