Special guest and potential 2016 contender, Governor Bobby Jindal, finally took the stage today at CPAC.
Governor Jindal took the attendees by surprise today by telling jokes rather than discussing serious matters during the first half of his speech. He shared that, while at the Gridiron Dinner last week, he told President Obama that he has no intentions of running for President: ”What chance does a skinny guy with a dark complexion and a funny name have of being elected President?”
The jokes continued by the Governor congratulating Elizabeth Warren on her Senate victory, “from one Indian to another,” and that due to the sequester, Attorney General Holder could only afford to send a couple hundred illegal guns over the border. Also due to the sequester, the White House security team was being dismissed and replaced by “Joe Biden with a shotgun.” The Governor has also heard that he and President Obama have much in common- UPS sued both of them for using their slogan, “What can brown do for you?” and that neither of them can laugh at themselves because, in the Governor’s words, “that would be racist.”
Widely viewed as a top candidate for the GOP nomination in 2016, Jindal is current Chairman of the Republican Governors Association. In addition, Jindal was a key surrogate to former GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney in the 2012 election. Elected to a second term as Governor of Louisiana in 2011, Jindal made headlines after the 2012 election for accusing Romney of “insulting” Obama voters who Romney claimed were “bought” with financial gifts from the government. In addition, after the 2012 election, Jindal called on the GOP to “return to the basics” saying “if we want people to like us, we have to like them first”.
