Twitter user Susan Clemens was shopping on Target.com, and noticed the following:
What the. Plus sized women get “Manatee Grey” while standard sizes are “Dark Heather Grey.” @target #notbuyingit twitter.com/suZen/status/3…
— Susan Clemens (@suZen) April 3, 2013
Apparently, “Manatee Gray” is a real color that is used all over Target’s lineup of clothes, pillows, and towels. Of course, the fact that the people in charge of the standard sizes are apparently different from those in charge of plus sizes - and the fact that this was a simple error - still riled up the Internet. Eventually, Target responded:
@suzen We apologize for this unintentional oversight & never intend to offend our guests. We’ve heard you, and we’re working to fix it ASAP.

Susan Clemens still stands by Target, realizing their error was benign and not intended to offend.
@sugargayisber @target had reasonable explanation - no animus necessary. Color choice was benignly applied here. Engaged brand. A+

But some people, of course, are still rather…brash.
@target @suzen .Maybe sue should put some effort in and loose some weight. Its not like this whole damn country isn’t over weight!
