These days, many Americans are asking themselves what is going on in this country in terms of the First Amendment. Freedom of speech is being scrutinized on a level that seems unprecedented.
As Gateway Pundit reported on April 12, a man who is outspoken about President Obama on his Twitter account, Tom Francois, heard banging on his door April 11. To his surprise, it was the Secret Service. They asked if they could “take a look around.” Tom didn’t have anything to hide so he fully complied with their request. He even signed a consent to search his premises AND an “Authorization To Review Medical and Mental Health Records!”
The agents walked in holding a thick FBI file filled with screen shots of hundreds of tweets and confronted Mr. Francois with the following questions:
“Have you ever left your state or traveled to Washington, D.C.?”
“Do you have any intention of whacking the president?”
His response: “Of course not. I wish him no harm. I disagree with his policies and make no bones about it. It’s my first amendment right and I intend to exercise it.”
On their way out the door, the Secret Service agents agreed with Mr. Francois that he hadn’t threatened the President.
As he further explained to Gateway Pundit, “Yes, I am EXTREMELY critical of Obama in my posts, but I never cross the line and threaten his being. EVER. It’s just the idea of Obama’s Secret Service intruding on my life when they knew I wasn’t really a threat.”
Who is calling for these intrusions? More and more, it seems we are living in a police state.
