Congressman Paul Broun’s Almost Positive He’s Not Thinking About Running for U.S. Senate, He Thinks…

It’s no secret that Georgia U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss, (#Taxby, as he is known in many circles), has giant crosshairs on his back looking ahead to the 2014 Republican primary. There have been silly rumors of an Erick Erickson, Karen Handel, Congressman Tom Price, and even Herman Cain jumping into this race to knock out Chambliss, a 10-year incumbent. However, only one has left the door open, even just a little.

Viral Read had originally been told by reliable sources that Congressman Paul Broun (R-GA-10) would be announcing his candidacy to challenge Senator Chambliss as early as late January, however his statements have been more and more misleading. In fact, it’s safe to say that Congressman Broun is confusing the hell out of anyone who asks him whether or not he is serious about challenging Taxby next year.

Blake Aued of the Athens Banner-Herald was able to catch up with Congressman Broun to ask him a few questions – I think he was just as confused after the conversation as when he started.

Take a look:

Congressman Broun (trial #1): “I’m honored that a lot of people have asked me to run and encouraged me to do so. I have not made that decision.”

Congressman Broun (trial #2): “I’m not really thinking about it a whole lot right now. I’ve got a lot of other things to think about. It’s really not the time to think about it, Tim.”

Congressman Broun (trial #3): (apparently forgetting what he had said two minutes earlier): “When people ask you to run and encourage you to run, how can you not think about it?”

Well, there ya have it folks. No one knows what Congressman Paul Broun is going to do, especially Congressman Broun. Regardless, there’s still room, there’s still time, and most importantly, there’s still a target on Senator Taxby Chambliss’ back.
