BREAKING: Documents, E-Mails Show RNC Official Knew About Lady Gaga Negotiations

Following up on reports that Lady Gaga was offered — and turned down — $1 million to perform at last year’s Republican National Convention, Jeff Quinton has obtained documents and e-mails showing that an RNC official was privy to the negotiations:

[O]ne of the persons listed in the fields of email recipients discussing Lady Gaga included an email address at the gopconvention2012.com domain. This was the domain name the RNC used for the convention website and emails. The name with that email address is Jason Osborne, and he was the Director of External Affairs for the convention.

Quinton provides more documentation that Osborne was aware of the negotiations from filings in a lawsuit that the American Action Network, which sponsored concerts at the Tampa convention, is pursuing against Cater America LLC, which booked acts for the shows. The RNC had previously issued a statement that “the RNC neither asked, offered, thought of or ever considered the idea of Lady Gaga performing at our convention.”
