It’s been widely reported that the elder Tsarnaev brother Tamerlan was the religious extremist in the family, and that he is responsible for the indoctrination of his impressionable younger brother Dzhokhar. However, it seems that the apple may not have fallen far from the tree.

In an interview with CNN Zubeidat Tsarnaev, the mother of the suspects, suggests her older son was killed because he was a Muslim. Undoubtedly greiving, yet boldly defiant, she goes on to say, “I don’t care if my youngest one is [also] going to be killed today. I want the world to hear this, and I don’t care if I am going to get killed too, okay…I will say Allahu Akbar!”

One wonders if NPR’s Dina Temple Raston still has reservations about the possibility of Islamic Jihad being a motive in this tragedy…
