Country music legend George Jones passed away today at the age of 81. Just a week ago he had been admitted into a hospital due with a fever and irregular blood pressure, according to his publicists.

Legend seems too small a title for a man nicknamed “The Possum,” and once “No Show Jones.” His voice was unique and unparalleled in it’s soppy soothing nature.

I wasn’t born into country music, but the best Americana music genre found me about ten years ago and I’ve never let go since. Jones was a favorite of mine. He was authentically country and looked flashy doing it.
