For those of you who think professional athletes are all a bunch of self-centered jerks who cheat on their wives, we present to you Hunter Mahan: candidate for Husband and Father of the Year.
On Saturday, Mahan was set to play the final two rounds of the Canadian Open. After his outstanding play on Thursday and Friday, he held a 2-shot lead going into the third round and was poised to win his first ever PGA tournament - oh, and a $1 Million prize. He had taken a few swings on the practice range when all of a sudden, he withdrew from the tournament and hightailed it to the airport to fly home to Texas. What could have prompted him to bail on the biggest moment of his professional life? The biggest moment of his personal life was happening; his wife was in labor and he wanted to be there for the birth of his first child.
Women of the world, say it with me, AWWWWWWWW!!!
On Sunday morning, the proud new dad tweeted the news that his daughter had been born:
What a whirlwind of a day, but I’m happy to announce the birth of my daughter Zoe Olivia Mahan born at 3:26 am. Thanks for all the support!

After watching Tiger Woods sully the family values of the PGA, it’s nice to see a man dedicated to his family instead of being driven by the search for hot women. Oh, by the way, did we mention that Mahan’s super-hot wife, Kandi, is a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader?
You’re welcome.
