Andrew Bynum is officially a Cleveland Cavalier after signing a contract that, with incentives, could pay him up to $24 million over the next two years. In reality, only $6 million is guaranteed, but still, not a bad chunk of change for a guy who played zero minutes for the Philadelphia 76ers last year. Bynum was courted by the Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks as well, but neither team was reported to have given Bynum an offer.
Signing the injury-prone 25-year-old is seen as a low risk move by Cavs’ owner Dan Gilbert, who is possibly using Bynum as another chip to lure Lebron James back to Cleveland in the 2014 free agent market. Meanwhile, Cleveland will be holding its collective breath that Bynum can stay healthy this year.
