Yoenis Cespedes defeated Bryce Harper in the final round of the 2013 Home Run Derby at Citi Field. The Oakland Athletic slugger started his night off with an impressive 1st round of 17 home runs. He was able to maintain the momentum the rest of the night clinching the victory over Harper with a 455 foot bomb to dead center in the final round.
Being at Citi Field and hosted by the Mets, the Home Run Derby was not lacking in unintentionally funny moments: Chris “Boomer” Berman was his usual self — exploding in excitement after every hard hit ball, and making head scratching comments. A fight broke out behind the ESPN set, and Met fans failed to execute a high five.
All in all, a great show with the All Star Game on deck for Tuesday night.
