Yesterday Viral Read was the first to report the crude tweets Josh Fjelstad, BuzzFeed’s Senior Copywriter, tweeted out to the world. Enraged by news that the gay conservative Republican organization, GOProud, is back to backing gay marriage (but now more formally) he mentioned the group and tweeted for it to, “SUCK MY DICK.” They were obviously too late in sharing Fjelstad’s same political position for him.
Coverage followed our story over at Twichy and The Daily Caller. Now, Fjelstand has been caught playing the clean-up game and BuzzFeed’s Editor-in-Chief, Ben Smith is mum on the incident. Fjelstand has tried scrubbing at least three tweets. The original slur, the one where he thought he was clarifying his gay-bashing remarks, “It appears my last tweet’s point was somehow unclear: I’m saying that it’s offensive how long it took GOProud to support GAY marriage,” and one where he starts engaging another user, “@AblativMeatshld Is it not “shocking” that a pro-gay group took decades to *acknowledge* that some gay people might want gay marriage?”
Nothing is dead on Twitter. Like diamonds, tweets last foreverz.

This is an all too common tactic over at BuzzFeed after a liberal outburst. In late October when then political reporter McKay Coppins was caught making what was essentially a liberal Democratic talking point to his fellow Romney press poolers, Coppins waited, tweeted out a half-apology and then went silent for a half day or so. In mid-December, Smith promoted Coppins to Political Editor. Coppins’ beat remains “national politics, the Republican Party, and the major figures in the conservative movement,” according to BuzzFeed.
The only question that now remains is… is there a promotion in store for the sexually needing Fjelstad?
