Adam Scott Becomes First Australian To Win the Masters

Forget Tiger and The Chosen Guan. Adam Scott has just won his first major, becoming the first Australian ever to win the Masters Tournament.

It became all about Scott v. Angel Cabrera as both men birdied on the 72nd hole during regular tournament play to force a sudden death playoff.  With very light rain coming down, the two golfers set off on 18 again and both shot for par (4). Then in the second round the golfers moved on to the 10th (par 4) with Cabrera nearly making birdie, but coming up just short for par. Then Scott took advantage of the slight misstep, sinking his final putt for birdie and the win.

Scott received a warm embrace from Cabrera and at long last the chance to put to rest any idea that he can’t finish in a Major. And with last year’s champion Bubba Watson doing the honor of helping him slip into his new outer-wear, Adam Scott now proudly wears his own Green Jacket and an ecstatic Land Down Under can raise a pint to their new favorite son.
